New Set of Denver Broncos Coaches

After finishing the search for their next head coach, the Denver Broncos are now on their way to completing the entire staff for the 2023 season. As expected, Sean Payton will choose some of his past ties to assist him with his new team.

Let’s take a look at the confirmed coaches for Denver:

Broncos Coaches for Offense

On the offensive side of the ball, Joe Lombardi will serve as the team’s offensive coordinator, with John Morton assisting as the pass-game coordinator. Lombardi and Morton will help coach, teach, organize, and game-plan the offense with Payton as the play-caller and primary impetus.

Joining Lombardi and Morton are Keary Colbert, who will serve as the team’s wide receivers coach, and Declan Doyle, who will coach the tight ends. Additionally, Zach Strief will take over the Broncos’ offensive line, a position in shambles with possibly as many as three starter holes to fill.

Morton’s previous experience as Payton’s WRs coach in New Orleans will also prove to be a valuable asset to the Broncos’ offense. Lombardi and Morton will work together to help coach, teach, organize, and game-plan the offense, with Payton calling the plays and serving as the primary impetus for the team.

Keary Colbert’s background as a former NFL wideout and his time with the Broncos during the Mike Shanahan era will add a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team’s coaching staff. And with Zach Strief taking over the offensive line, the Broncos are hoping to address a major weakness on their roster.

Strief’s experience as a former player who helped the Saints win a Super Bowl will be invaluable as he takes over a Broncos offensive line that is in disarray. With possibly as many as three starter holes to fill up front, Strief will have his work cut out for him, but his experience and knowledge will undoubtedly prove to be an asset to the team.

Broncos Coaches for Defense

Vance Joseph will be the Broncos’ Defensive Coordinator. Joseph returns to Denver, where he had a two-year stint as head coach that was largely considered a disappointment. However, he has maintained a good reputation as a coordinator and the Saints will be hoping he can provide the defensive returns they need.

Joseph will be joined by Marcus Dixon, who has been retained from last year’s coaching staff. Dixon faced unique obstacles during the 2022 season, but he managed to out-kick his coverage and will be hoping to build on that in the upcoming season. Christian Parker has also been retained and will be responsible for coaching the defensive backs.

Greg Manusky and Michael Wilhoite have been brought on board to coach the inside and outside linebackers, respectively. Denver will be hoping that they can get the most out of their linebackers, including Baron Browning, who has shown a lot of promise but remains a work in progress. It remains to be seen whether Browning will stay in his current role as an outside linebacker or move inside.

Broncos Coaches for Special Teams

The Broncos have also announced their special teams’ coaching staff for the upcoming season, with Ben Kotwica taking the role of Special Teams Coordinator. Mike Westhoff has been brought on board as Assistant Head Coach, and Chris Banjo will serve as Assistant Special Teams coach.

With the Broncos struggling to get production from their special teams in recent years, the Saints will be hoping that the combined veteran influence of Westhoff and Kotwica can turn things around.

Better Season for the Denver Broncos?

The Denver Broncos have assembled a strong and experienced coaching staff for the upcoming season. However, turning things around this year would also require a competitive set of players. This is why there are more things to work with for the Broncos.

Their odds do move up, compared to last season. They are not one of the worst teams in the league now and are listed as +3500 to win the Super Bowl 2024 on BetMGM Colorado.

While there are some questions about how the different coaches will work together, the team will be hoping that their collective knowledge and experience will help them achieve their goals in the upcoming season.
